
The calendar of wine-related activities is gaining momentum. Particularly noteworthy is the growing number of popular events such as Rosé Day, Tastets de Gratallops or Bizkaiko Txakolina Fest, new shows such as Conectando Gredos or El Gallo Wine Fest, not forgetting Haro's annual festival, when locals and visitors alike dress in white to take part in the Wine Battle. Remember that we update the agenda mid-month with new events.
1 June. The Fira del Vi Solidari is the result of the desire of a group of wineries in the Masroig area to support medical research into children's cancer through the Obra Social de Sant Joan de Deu. At the Fira, which will take place at the Bancal d'Alegno del Masroig, visitors will be able to taste the wines of the participating wineries and buy a charity wine made by the wineries Orto Vins, Coca i Fitó, Dit Celler, Cellers Can Blau, Celler Masroig y Vins and Caves Piteus, among others. 1-2 June. Las Armas Space in Zaragoza hosts VinoSonic DO Calatayud, a festival with wine tastings of Calatayud wines guided by sommelier Manu Jiménez, live music, an art and wine workshop and a gastronomic and craft market. Price: from €12
2 June. Around 30 Garnacha and Albillo Real producers from Sierra de Gredos join forces to take part in Conectando Gredos festival, which will be held at Casa del Parque in the Valle de Iruelas nature reserve in El Barraco (Ávila). Some of the participating wineries are Alfredo Maestro, Aumesquet Garrido, Bernabeleva, Arrayán, Jiménez Landi, Ca di Mat, Canopy, Cható Gañán, Daniel Ramos, Las Pedreras, Rico Nuevo, Vino y Se Quedó, Ambiz, Viñadores de Gredos and Viñedos del Jorco. 2 June. Rosé Day is once again being held in San Martín de Unx (Navarra) with open doors at Bodegas Beramendi, Máximo Abete and Bodegas San Martín, with wine tastings, local craft sales, music, walks around the town and the special presence of Raúl Pérez as guest of honour. There will be a bus from Pamplona. The only activity that requires booking is the popular lunch in the pelota court.
3 June. Ganz wine bar in Madrid (Almadén, 9) hosts Arriba!, an exhibition of Portuguese and Spanish wines from Arribes del Duero with the following producers: Alvar de Dios, Arribas Wine Co, Frontio, El Hato y El Garabato, Casa de Joa, Corazón Continto Lumbrales, Dominio del Vadillo, Inma Vadillo Viticultora, Dominio del Noveno, Picotes Wines and Tierra Prometida. 4, 5, 19, 20 and 26 June. The Spanish Tasters Union in Madrid (Lope de Vega, 27) announces five new events for the month of June: Rodolfo Bastida leads a tasting to mark the centenary of Ramón Bilbao ( 4th, 45 €), vertical of eight vintages of Viña Pomal Reserva (5th, €40), Juan Antonio Ponce and his wines from Manchuela (19th, €45), Great Gold Bacchus from Latin America and Portugal (20th, €40) and Great Gold Bacchus 2023 vintage (26th, €40). 5 and 19 June. Tiempos Líquidos wine bar in Burgos (San Gil, 5) presents a couple of activities this month. The first, on the 5th, is a blind tasting of white wines with Diego González (€45, with dinner €65) while on the 19th there will be an encounter with FAP Grand Cru and Bordeaux wines (€50, with dinner €70). 6 June. Pura Cepa restaurant in Murcia (Plaza Cristo del Rescate, 8) presents a tasting and dinner with the members of Bodegas Gratias, who have been committed to the regeneration of their environment in Manchuela and the recovery of local varieties for more than 10 years. Time: 21:00 Price: €40.
6 June. The Club de Marketing de La Rioja in Logroño (Medrano, 12) presents a round table with four young producers from the region to discuss the future of Rioja wine: Álvaro Loza, Miguel Eguíluz (Cupani), Ricardo Fernández (Abeica) and Víctor Escudero (Ilurce). After the panel, there will be a tasting of some of the producers' wines. Time: 18:30-21:00. The activity is free but booking is necessary.
6-9 June.The Temps de Vi fair in Vilanova i la Geltrú, designed to spread wine culture and Catalan wines, returns to the town's Rambla and will be attended by a good number of Catalan wineries, which will present their wines in paired tastings in the village as well as on a sailing boat. 8 June. The town council and the wineries of Gratallops (Tarragona) host a new edition of Tastets de Gratallops, an exhibition of wines from this town in the DOQ Priorat that will be accompanied by a range of local products. Among the wineries attending are Álvaro Palacios, Clos de L’Obac, Clos Figueras, Clos Mogador, Josep Grau, Meritxell Pallejà or Trossos del Priorat. Time: 18:30 - 21:30 Price: €35.
8-9 June.The third edition of Bizkaiko Txakolina Fest in Portugalete comes to Paseo de La Canilla with tastings by sommeliers, showcookings, foodtrucks and music. More information on the link above.
9 June. A group of women working in wineries in Alicante such as Marta Valsangiacomo (Vittore), Nerea Tomás (Bocopa), Joselina Vallés (Cooperativa Teulada) or Paloma Mínguez (Manzaneque) among others, will participate in a new edition of the Mostra Internacional de Vins Singulars i de Poble, which is dedicated to the essential work of so many women in the wine sector. It will be held in Jesús Pobre (Denia, Alicante) and will be officially opened by Sarah Jane Evans MW. Time: 18:00 - 23:00 Price: €10 (includes glass and three tastings).
10 June. Wineries, distributors and regulatory boards will be present at the Verema Experience in Vigo (Pazo Los Escudos) where there will also be commented tastings of Familia Fernández Rivera and DO Ribera del Duero. Time: 12:00 - 15:00 to 17:00 - 21:00 Price: €20 if you buy online and €25 if you buy your ticket at the door.
From 11 June. The fourth edition of CORPINNAT Gastronomic Festival, which will be held at the group's wineries, will offer more than two dozen dinners prepared by the chefs of renowned restaurants such as Alapar, Cal Carter, Ticus, Camarasa, Vilagut, Divinum, L’Aspic, La Taberna del Ciri or Pinotxo Bar, paired with long-aged sparkling wines. 12, 13, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23, 27 and 28 June. The Lust for Wine centre in Burgos, run by Pilar Cruces, begins its programme of events this month with ‘Vinomania’ at Restaurante Clarita (Corredera Baja de San Pablo, 19 Madrid). On the 13th and 22nd she will be leading the Wine Casino at the III Edition of Cairwinefriends at Dominio de Cair, in Ribera del Duero, while on the 16th she will be leading a blind tasting of international white wines at Sala Lust for Wine in Burgos (Plaza Alonso Martínez, 7A Oficina 57, 12:30, €35). ‘Te leo un Vino’ in Música y Deportes at Paseo del Espolón, 16 in Burgos (19:30, €8) will be on the 18th, while the 20th is reserved for a presentation on Burgundy (Sala Lust for Wine, 20:30, €45). On the 23rd, Vinos Sonoros: The history of opera since the 17th century with Pedro Bartolomé and Pilar Cruces at Hotel Las Baronas, in Santa Cruz de la Salceda (13:00, €30) and on the 27th there will be a presentation about Greece at La Pícara Gastroteca in Aranda (20:30, €35). 14 June. Tickets for the Barrio de la Estación 2024 Tasting are already sold out but there are still some left for the tasting conducted by Luis Gutiérrez, reviewer of The Wine Advocate. It will be a journey through seven decades with the following wines: Gómez Cruzado (Pancrudo 2021 and Montes Obarenes 2016), La Rioja Alta (Gran Reserva 904 2005 and Gran Reserva 890 1981), Bodegas Roda (Roda I 1997), Muga (Prado Enea Gran Reserva 1970), Bodegas Bilbaínas (Viña Pomal Gran Reserva 1966) and Cvne (Viña Real Gran Reserva 1962). After the tasting there will be a cocktail with wines from the producers in the Station District and a concert by the band The Winedrinkers. Place: La Marquesina de Bodegas Bilbaínas in Haro. 14 June. The Ecovino popular tasting will be held in Logroño’s CCR with the chance to taste the winning wines of 11 producers that have won medals at this organic wine competition, as well as pintxos made by Sugai Larrazabal, chef at Wine Fandango. 14-15 June. As part of Entorno a la Mesa, an event promoted by Rioja Alavesa Wine Route, a tasting has been organised by Fernando Mora, winemaker and Master of Wine, called Varietal dance, alone or with others, with eight wines from Rioja Alavesa. Location: Plaza de la Constitución in Baños de Ebro. There will be a bus from Bilbao and Vitoria. Time: 19:30 - 21:30 (Friday) and 12:00 - 13:45 (Saturday). Price: €25
15 June. The town square of Requena hosts a new edition of Requena es Cava, with the opportunity to taste cavas from the wineries that form the Asociación de Elaboradores de Cava de Requena: Coviñas, Chozas Carrascal, Dominio de la Vega, Hispano+Suizas, Marevia, Pago de Tharsys and Torre Oria. Time: 19:30 - 23:30
15 June. The Plaza de les Eres in Vilella Alta (Tarragona) will host the seventh edition of Tasta Vilella, with the presence of the following bodegas from Priorat: Mas Alta, Ritme Celler, Vinícola del Priorat, Cartoixa de Montsalvat, La Conreria d’Escala Dei and Els Vil·lusionistes. There will be tapas and music to enjoy with the wines. Time: 20:00
16 June. A new festival has hit the scene for good wine lovers. It is called El Gallo Wine Fest, it will take place at the Sierra Pambley Foundation in León and includes a wine show with local producers such as César Márquez, Olga Verde, Raúl Pérez, Dominio de Anza, Cantariña or Descendientes de J. Palacios as well as others coming from different parts of the country such as Gramona, Barbadillo, Gerardo Méndez, Forjas del Salnés, Cerrón or Artadi, among others. There will also be tastings led by Mohamed Benabdallah (Etxebarri), Armando Guerra (Taberna Der Guerrita) and Rodrigo González Carballo. Opening hours: 10:30 - 14:30 and 16:30 - 20:30 Price: 50 €.
17 June. In Salamanca, the Winelovers wine bar (Íscar Peyra, 5) welcomes Pablo Calatayud of Celler del Roure, one of the leading producers of wine in Valencia with wines such as Les Alcusses, Parotet, Safrà, Vermell or Cullerot, who will be at the tasting, plus some surprises. 17-18 June. Vila Viniteca presents its en primeur tastings in Barcelona (Llotja de Mar, Pg Isabel II) and Madrid (Teatro Real, Pl Isabel II) respectively with the opportunity to taste barrel samples from producers such as Álvaro Palacios, Dominio de Pingus, Contador, Cuentaviñas, Teso La Monja or Comando G, among others, as well as two dozen châteaux from Bordeaux. 18-28 June. This month, Coalla in Gijón presents a tasting of world sparkling wines paired with a selection of products from the shops at Espacio Kausa (Calle Santa Doradía 5). Time: 20:00 Price: €35.
19 and 26 June. Enoteca Barolo in Madrid (Príncipe de Vergara, 211) hosts a couple of tastings this month. The first, on the 19th, will pair wine and Japanese cuisine led by Naumi Uemura (€65), while on the 26th, there will be a tasting of champagnes from De Sousa, Pascal Doquet and Larmandier Bernier (€85). 22 June. Summer is here and with it comes a new edition of the seasonal tastings at Taberna Der Guerrita in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. 27 June. Singer Daniela Horovitz and wine critic and writer Federico Oldenburg present Cabaret Sauvignon, a show to bring people closer to wine while enjoying popular music and humour. 29 June. Haro is once again holding its traditional Wine Battle, an event in which thousands of people climb up to the fields of San Felices, on the outskirts of the Rioja town, to throw a huge amount of wine at each other. The Wine Battle in Haro, which begins with a mass and ends with a popular lunch, attracts thousands of young people from the region but also foreign tourists.
