Alfredo Maestro’s flagship red is made with Tempranillo grapes from Peñafiel in Ribera del Duero but it has always been sold as VT Castilla y León. Winemaking is straightforward: fermentation taking place in stainless steel vats in order to have as much fruit as posible. This wine is usually destemmed but given the warm character of the 2017 vintage some whole bunches were added, hence the fresh, generous amount of crunchy red fruit. As other young, natural wines, this red goes down really easy. 15.5 points
