This young Mencía benefits from the relatively fresh character of the 2016 vintage (it was a very good year for this winery) and the extra depth provided by the 70-year-old vines it is sourced from. Where else in the world can we find wines made from such old vines at this price? Fragrant, spicy nose with red fruit notes over an earthy background. There’s also a refreshing herbal edge and far more depth than what's standard in young reds. A distinctive wine with lots of character. 16.0 points
