The wine is a play on words with New York (Nueva York): Nieva, the name of the village where this producer grows most of his very old Verdejo vines, instead of Nueva. This a natural, seamless, well-made, pet nat style. Fresh and consistent with subtle bubbles, the wine displays an herbaceous character and some stone fruit notes leading to a dry, slightly bitter finish. A versatile, easy-to-drink sparkling wine. 90 points
