It’s not easy to find a 100% Cariñena from Aragón, but this one is worth looking for. Sourced from clay-limestone soils in Épila and fermented in open vats before being aged in 500-litre used barrels, the wine displays an energetic, distinctive profile. The fragrant nose (black plumps, sarsaparilla, blueberries) is followed by a juicy palate with bright, almost citrusy acidity and good length. It’s great to see so many outstanding Cariñena wines made in Spain. 93 points
