Its new label reads “high altitude vineyards” so I was expecting a fresh style, which I indeed found, not least for the characteristics of the 2013 vintage in Rioja, which can be defined as Atlantic. Wild herbs and minty aromas evoking the landscape are followed by the crisp red fruit character that I often find in the wines from Laguardia (Rioja Alavesa). This is a really expressive, widely available wine offering terrific value. 16.5 points
