The name Amontillado originated in Montilla-Moriles but Palo Cortado is a rare category in this wine region north of Jerez. Coming from a 50+ year old Solera, it is far more concentrated than the Amontillado. Incredibly complex nose with lots of spices (cinnamon, vanilla), orange zest, nuts and some aromatic herbs. The palate is rather extreme though: it is so concentrated that it almost hurts. This could be described as a sensorial experience by itself; it is not a wine for everybody. 18.0 points
