This is the first village wine from Mandrágora. Grapes are sourced from Molinillo, a remote village with hard, dark, corneal slate soils. Expressive nose with aromatic herbs (lavender) aromas over a dark fruit and charcoal background. On the palate it feels aerial, aromatic and floral, then turns darker with distinctive earthiness on the finish, yet the style is fresh and tannins are well wrapped-up. I hope this outstanding red will help to place Rufete among Spain’s most interesting red grapes. 93 points
