This is a completely different style of Rioja since it’s a great challenge to grow Mazuelo (Carignan) in such a cool area at 700m of altitude. Light to medium ruby colour. Fresh nose of herbs and small red berries. No whole bunch fermentation here, yet I’m sure the wine will appeal to those who love the style due to its freshness, forest character and restrained weight. 16.0 points
