Fifty per cent of this wine was made with whole bunch fermentation. Dark black fruit on the nose, with inky, balsamic and some earthy notes. Fabulous silky texture on the palate with lots of sweet fruits balanced by a fine bitter note on the finish. This is a really different Ribera, with a distinctive character emanating from the very old vines grown on sandy soils in Atauta, a village in the province of Soria. Lots of character at a high price but a great choice in the difficult 2013 vintage. 17.5 points
