We salute winemaker Antony Terryn's honesty in revealing this wine's whopping 16% alcohol on the label. Beyond the alcohol, which is clearly present, there are pleasant kirsch notes (the wine comes from 45+ year-old vines) followed by cedar and black chocolate aromas shaping a fine nose. This is big, powerful red with voluptuous tannins and yes, balance. It ends with that distinctive earthy, bitter note that is intrinsic to Toro. 16.5 points
