This is the first vintage of wine that can be seen as the equivalent of Hiru, Luis Cañas' top wine at his Rioja winery. Grapes come from very old vineyards and retail price will probably exceed €200 with €25 per bottle going to charity. Complex and deep nose with jammy fruit, rockrose, liquorice, dark chocolate and hazelnut aromas. Deep and powerful on the palate, with a round, velvety texture and nicely integrated oak. I would love to taste it side by side with some top Riberas. 17.5 points
