In recent years the Mendoza family has focused its efforts on the indigenous Monastrell. Grapes are sourced from the Estrecho de Pipa vineyard in Villena at 700m. of altitude and with poor, sandy soils. Deep ruby colour. Seasoned fruit and kirsch aromas followed by balsamic and dairy notes. There’s plenty of sweet fruit on the palate (strawberry lollipop) with slightly bitter tannins that manage to be well wrapped by the fruit and add some seriousness to the wine. Good persistence. 16.5 points
