Garnacha dominates on this blend with Mazuelo from Cárdenas, an up-and-coming area in the Alto Najerilla valley with interesting Garnacha vines. Deep ruby colour with garnet rim. Fermentation takes place with stems adding a distinctive fresh, herbaceous, balsamic character, but there’s plenty of red fruit and juiciness for such a fresh vintage in Rioja. A wine that takes some time to open up, but worth waiting for. Deeply aromatic. 93 points
