This wine with just 12% abv from a cold, rainy vintage has performed fantastically with ageing (three years in barrels; the rest in bottle) to offer a refined profile, with generous minty and mossy notes plus the complexity inherent to extended aging (almonds, quince). It feels less unctuous than the previous 2012 vintage, nevertheless is fresh, full of character and lingering. Beautiful to drink now or lay down. An above all to tell the story of Rioja's ability to produce carachterful whites. 17.5 points
