Viña Real's new village wine comes from two vineyards in Laguardia planted with 30-year-old vines. Named San Ginés and Castejones, they have the area's trademark clay-limestone soils. Bakeder is a lively, expressive Tempranillo with plenty of fruit and spice and pleasant liquorice notes on the finish that perfectly serve the wine's purpose of conveying the character of the village. The kind of terroir-driven Rioja wine that could attract new consumers to the region. 16.5 points
