It’s difficult to get better quality in a Crianza. This brand, which spearheaded a small revolution in Rioja in the late 1980s with the use of new French oak and bringing the fruit to the forefront, remains a benchmark red in the area. High altitude vineyards provide plenty of freshness and juiciness but there are also vibrant red and black fruit notes, spices, fine toasty and minty nuances in the glass. 16.5 points
