There are just a few hundred bottles of this wine in the market but they are worth looking for. A single-vineyard red from Tenerife's leading producer Suertes del Marqués, this is Vijariego Negro (Sumoll in Catalonia), a minor variety in the island. Grapes are harvested early and fermented with whole bunches and very little extraction in a fragrant, expressive, delicate style. Black pepper, red berries and lovely texture with amazing finesse and a crystalline-like quality. 17.5 points
