Grapes are sourced from the oldest plot in Cruz de Alba’s property in Padilla de Duero (Valladolid), planted in 1963 on poor, sandy soils. 2014 was a very good vintage in Ribera -this is my favourite Finca Los Hoyales since the wine was released in the 2012 harvest. Concentrated and fully ripe fruit (red and black plums, liquorice) counterbalanced with fresh herbal notes. This a full-bodied, perfectly balanced red showing tension and freshness. I love the perfectly ripe tannins. 93 points
