This is the outstanding village wine made by Álvaro Palacios and his nephew Ricardo Pérez in Bierzo. It used to be 100% Mencía but minority grape varieties such as white Palomino are now included in the blend creating a rounder palate. The wine is aged in oak vessels of different sizes including 600-litre barrels and oval foudres. 2016 is a particularly elegant vintage with aromas of fennel, spices, petals and fine fruits of the forest. The palate is aromatic with lovely texture and persistence. 17.0 points
