Sourced from slate soils and partly fermented with whole bunches, the wine was aged for 18 months in 300-litre French oak barrels. Beautiful spicy nose showcasing forest berries and cherry fruit over a dark, inky background. This is a ligh-bodied, evocative red with lots of expression. Both the area and the grape variety deserve being better known and enjoyed. 16.5 points
