This is undoubtedly one of the best Monastrell wines made in Spain. Artadi is better known for its reds from Álava (sold as Rioja until they left the DOCa) so it’s a shame that consumers tend to forget its wines from Alicante and Navarra. This is an elegant, refined red showing plenty of ripe but fresh fruit (plums, cherries) aromas over a scented background of violets. Much more freshness than expected from this part of Spain, amazing definition of fruit and really fine tannins. 17.5 points
