This flagship vineyard for the Artuke family has distinctive sandy-gravely soils and a high proportion of chalk. The name is a tribute to Kike and Arturo's grandfather, who was called mad by local winegrowers for choosing such a poor soil. The relatively high percentage of Graciano grapes in the blend result in a fresh wine which has managed to avoid the warmth of the 2015 vintage. Pure, well-defined red fruit notes followed by firm tannins. A fine, mineral, terroir-driven red under €20.
