Finally, Torres’ first and very much awaited sparkling wine in Spain is not officially a Cava as the family has preferred to be able to use grapes from cooler areas outside Penedès in future vintages. I was somewhat bemused by the name, the story behind it and the fancy packaging, more in tune with a New World wine. Inside the bottle, we find youth and freshness aplenty. Fennel, fresh fruit and red berry aromas are followed by luscious, citrus flavours with good tension.
