More and more producers in Bierzo are paying attention to Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) and adding single-varietal reds to their ranges. As is the case in Pobladura, 50% of this wine was aged in amphorae and 50% in 500-litre barrels. Preserved fruit, orange zest and inky aromas are followed by a serious, full-bodied palate with some herbaceous notes. Tannins are quite obvious now but this wine is impeccably made and shows real character. Best to give it some time to settle.
