Summer is already here and wine events tend to be more fun-oriented with festivals focusing on music and wine intertwined with other events. Winelovers working in July as well as those on holiday will have many opportunities to enjoy at least one of the activities taking place across the country this month. Remember to return to this page for updates - Spanish Wine Lover doesn’t go on holiday in July!

3 July. The Fundación para la Cultura del Vino (FCV) presents El paisaje del viñedo español: análisis, distintas miradas y decisiones, a session of debate and reflection to think about the future of the vineyard's agricultural landscape as a sustainable resource, as well as its cultural and environmental heritage. Venue: Assembly Hall of the Official College of Architects of Madrid (Hortaleza, 63). Time: 08:45 - 18:30. Price: €60

3 July. The Alicante Tasting School hosts a seminar to learn about Barolo, its history and its wines, led by Juancho Asenjo, one of Spain's leading experts on Italian wine. During the session, 20 wines will be tasted. Hours: 9:00-14:00 and 16:00-19:00. Price: €200

4 July. The store Vinicia in Lleida (Humbert Torres, 19) presents a blind tasting of Costers del Segre wines by Gregori Albareda, Vinicia's sommelier. Time: 21:00 Price: €25 Reservations on telephone +34 973 247554

4, 10, 17, 18 and 31 July. The Vila Viniteca shops in Madrid (General Díaz Porlier, 45 and Fernán González, 29) and Barcelona (Agullers, 7 and Villarroel, 209) host several tastings for wine lovers this month. In Madrid the sessions start with Niepoort wines presented by Ana Osorio ( 4th, €39), world rosés (17th, €49), island wines from around the world (18th, €49) and end with a tour of the Jura (31st, €79). This is the Barcelona calendar: summer wines (10th, €49) and sparkling wines from around the world (18th, €59) Time: 20:00 - 22:00

4, 11 and 18 July. Singer Daniela Horovitz and wine critic and writer Federico Oldenburg present Cabaret Sauvignon, a show that aims to showcase the world of wine using popular music and humour. The event will take place at Collage Burlesque in Madrid (c/Manuel Silvela) with a show on the 12th at Bodega Jean Leon in Torrelavit (Barcelona) Time: 20:00 - 21:30 Ticket: €20.8, includes two wines) (At Jean Leon the show starts at 19:00).

4, 11, 18 and 25 July. Bodegas Franco-Españolas opens the doors of its winery in Logroño for its summer cinema, where four films will be screened in VOSE followed by a gastrobar, a wine bar and music. This summer gathering features the following films, inspired in the theme of rebellion: Rebel Without a Cause, Wild Tales, Jaws and The Call. Price: €10, of which €1 will be donated to the Food Bank. Time: 19:30 Screenings will begin at sundown.

5-6 July. The village of Labastida in Rioja Alavesa hosts Bodegas a Pie de Calle, a weekend with stands in the Barrio del Olmo where you can taste wine from over a dozen local producers such as Remelluri, Tierra, Carlos Sánchez, Manuel Quintero, Área Pequeña or Alain Quintana, among others, and two guest French estates. There will also be a couple of tastings led by Nacho Jiménez from Alma Vinos Únicos (5th) and Colectivo Decantado (6th, 13:00). Price: From €35 (€40 in advance)

5-7 July. Vilafranca del Penedès near Barcelona welcomes summer with the festival Vijazz Penedès, which blends in wine and cava with national and international jazz music. As well as listening to good music, the town will host the Wine & Cava Festival, with two dozenproducers from DO Penedès, DO Cava and Corpinnat plus tastings and pairings. 5, 12, 13, 18, 20, 26 and 27 July. La Taberna der Guerrita in Sanlúcar de Barrameda hosts, as it does every year, a series of summer tastings with the presence of well-known wine professionals. The tastings will take place in the back room of the tavern and will feature Rodrigo Méndez, from Forjas de Salnés (5th), Susana Esteban, Spanish producer based in Portugal (12th), Telmo Rodríguez (13th), Verónica Ortega (18th), Víctor Palacios and Miguel Lara (18th), Víctor Palacios and Miguel Lara (20th), Nuno Duarte and Madeira wines (20th), the Gómez Lucas brothers and their Mahara wines from Cádiz (26th) and Eduardo Ojeda with a handful of historic vintages (27th). 6 July. If you're in the Segrià area (Lleida), Lagravera Fest celebrates a party for the third consecutive year at its Viña Nuria vineyard. The ticket includes: access to all the concerts, a souvenir glass, the first Ónra wine of the festival and a five-wine pairing pack. For the kids, there are activities such as circus and make-up sessions. Time: from 18:00 Price: from €25 adults.

6 July. The village of Okondo celebrates its Txakolina Jaia today, which starts with a tasting of txakolis from Álava such as Gárate, Astobiza, Txikubin, Eukeni and Xarmant, accompanied by tuna pintxos and burgers. There will also be children's workshops, a toast with the actress Ane Gabarain and a live music performance by the band Incomprendida Casandra.

6-7 July. A Emoción dos Viños is a wine fair that brings together small producers from Galicia and wine regions of Spain and Portugal who try to convey a sense of place in their wines and are respectful of their vineyards. It is an opportunity to meet more than 60 winegrowers such as Anónimas Viticultoras, Adega O Cabalín, Entre Os Ríos, Mission Wine, Bernardo Estévez, José Luis Aristegui or Xulia Bande, among others from Galicia as well as Vino y se Quedó (Gredos), El Piraña (Trebujena), Óscar Mestre (Alicante), Tantaka (Arabako Txakolina), José Antonio García (Bierzo) and Bideona (Rioja Alavesa). The event will take place at Pazo de Fonseca in Santiago de Compostela. Time: 11:00-14:00 and 17:00-21:00 on Saturday and 11:00-14:00 on Sunday. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 July. The Vin la Vie wine shop in Madrid (Mercado de Ibiza, Stall 8) presents the following activities: blind tasting in pairs ( 6th, 20:45), sparkling wines of the world (7th, 12:45), discover Rioja (13th, 20:45), wines of Madrid (14th, 12:45), international wines (20th, 20:45) and rosé toasts (21st, 12:45). 7 and 14 July. The wine training centre Lust for Wine, directed by Pilar Cruces, presents two activities this month: 5-course menu + 5 wines at Wines and Vinyls - Icons of Jazz at Casa Masip (Academia Militar, 6), as part of the Ezcaray Jazz Festival (7th, 14:00, €60 Reservations: +34 941 35 43 27) and an introduction to descriptive wine tasting with five wines of different styles and origins. This activity will take place on 12 July in the Lust for Wine Room in Burgos (Plaza Alonso Martínez, 7A Office 57): Time: 12:30 Price: €35.

11, 18 and 25 July. Restaurant Cal Feru in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia presents the fourth edition of Territori Efervescent in Patio de Can Guineu, with three tastings to showcase the range of sparkling wines produced both nationally and internationally. The first session will be a tasting of 12 wines from the first Corpinnat vintage (11th), the second will offer sparkling wines made from aged base wines (18th) and finally, there will be a tasting of sparkling wines made by the Vida Penedès collective (25th). Time: 18:00. Price: €35 per session.

13 July. The walled village of Laguardia in Rioja Alavesa presents Laguardia en Vino, with 18 local producers such as Artadi, Cosme Palacio, Dominio de Anza, El Sacramento, Guardianes del Reino, Las Orcas, Gil Berzal, Oxer Wines, Sierra de Cantabria, Ukan or Ruiz de Viñaspre, among others. There will also be live music and pintxos by chef Cristian Solana from El Puntido restaurant. Time: 11:30-15:30 Price: €50

14-15 July. The town hall of Rubielos de Mora in Teruel hosts the third edition of Rubvinos, a wine fair coordinated by winemaker Juanvi Alcañiz (Rubus) with 15 producers who will bring 80 different wines to taste. Time: 18:00 - 21:30 Price: €10.

16 and 18 July. Enoteca Barolo (Príncipe de Vergara, 211) in Madrid presents a couple of activities this month, including a tasting of champagnes from the 2008 and 2012 vintages (16th, €80), and a pairing of Ibéricos from Guijuelo with Jerez wines (18th, €60). Time: 20:30

19 July. The garden of Molino de la Ferrería, in Villacorta (Segovia), just over an hour from Madrid, presents Candlelight wine & food experience, a journey through Spain and Europe with five wines and a paired dinner by candlelight. 19 July. The One Wine wine shop in Laguardia (Rioja Alavesa) has invited Juan Valdelana, a young producer from Elciego, to present five Viñedo Singular wines, the new category of single vineyard wines in DOCa Rioja. Time: 19:00 Price: €70 Information and bookings on +34 605 155910

20 July. Ochoa in Olite (Navarra) presents Tardeos de Verano, with live music by Slow Jazz Trio and two glasses of wine. Time: 19:00 - 21:30 Price: €12.

26-28 July. Wine and food will be part of the 17th Ribeira Sacra Festival, which includes performances by bands such as Morcheeba, Carlangas y los Cubatas, Glassio and Queralt Lahoz, among others, and will take place in the towns of Monforte de Lemos, Pobra do Brollón and the Regina Viarum winery in Doade. Some of the concerts will take place in catamaran trips on the river Sil, and there will also be guided tours and several tastings. Price: from €30 for the festival and €14 for the tastings.

Wednesdays in July. The terrace of producer Martín Codax in the Salnés Valley hosts a new edition of As Tardes do Atlántico, where several Spanish chefs present Galician products accompanied with Martín Códax wines. Until 31 July. The fourth edition of CORPINNAT Gastronomic Festival, which is held at the group's wineries, features two dozen dinners prepared by the chefs of Catalan restaurants such as Ru Gastronomic, Divinum or La Taverna del Ciri, paired with long-aged sparkling wines.
