White wine tasting - Fira del Vi in Falset

Around 50 wineries from the Priorat and Montsant appellations, plus some from other areas, will be at Falset Castle to present their white wines at a tasting organised by the Aguiló Vinateria and Vins&Olis wine shops from Priorat.

Cariñena wines from Porrera

A special tasting of the best Cariñenas from each of the 24 wineries in the village of Porrera: Celler de l’Encastell, Celler Ardevol, Clos Dominic, Cims de Porrera, Celler Cal Pla, Sangenís i Vaqué, Alícia i Josep Viticultors, Celler Castellet, Fills de la Llicorella, Vall Llach, Família Peyrí, Celler L’Antic Magatzem, Marco Abella, Celler Joan Simó, Merum Prioratí, Celler Balmaprat, Trosset de Porrera, Celler Nin Ortiz, Ferrer Bobet, Giol Porrera, Alvarez Duran, Celler Abelló and Mas d’en Perí. These are uncommercialised wines, cask samples that are later blended with the final wines. Cariñena is the variety most identified with the village of Porrera.

Ink: from vineyards to paper

The activity, led by restorer Ariadna Queralt, will begin with a talk followed by a hands-on workshop where participants will prepare a historical recipe for ink, whose star ingredients are vine and wine, and will learn to write in uncial calligraphy. This initiative is part of the events to mark the 700th anniversary of the creation of the county of the Mountains of Prades and its annexation by the barony of Entença.

XVI Tast de Cal Compte

Around two dozen wineries from Torroja del Priorat and elsewhere will gather to offer tastings of their wines and showcase the region. An opportunity to chat with the producers and stroll through one of the most emblematic manor houses in Priorat, built in 1801. There will also be music, cheese tasting courtesy of Xerigots from Vilafranca, oils from Siurana PDO, a seasonal vegetable rice dish and desserts from Cal Sistaré.

Tasting with Manin y Sus Muchachos

On the border between Navarra and Rioja, in the Sonsierra region, Angela and Sancho work around 3.5 hectares of vineyards in eight villages located in three different valleys, at elevations ranging from 400 to almost 700 metres. This limited, organic production seeks to recover a heritage that has practically disappeared in the area: old vines, mainly Garnacha, but also Graciano, Miguel de Arco (Moristel), Chasselas and other minority varieties.

Fenavin

This year's Fenavin wine fair will take place in Ciudad Real from 6 to 8 May, with around 1,900 wineries exhibiting and dozens of presentations and tastings, including one on old vines in Jumilla, another on Airen wines and another on grass-fed wines. In addition, our team member Yolanda Ortiz de Arri will present three tastings, organised by EDA/Basque Culinary Center, with young producers on the influence of soil on wine, rare varieties and the influence of the container on the final style of the wine. Attendance at the tastings is free and on a first-come, first-served basis.

A tasting guided by Gregori Albareda to discover the most important wines of Andalusia, from white wines to biologically and oxidatively aged wines from the Sherry region and Montilla-Moriles. El Molar Música i Vi

Live music accompanied by wine tastings from the village on 9 and 10 May. On the 9th, Alide Sans' music celebrates rurality and mountain traditions from a woman's perspective. On the 10th, Les Testarudes will be at a festival that celebrates Catalan folk culture.

An anniversary with character: El Grifo

Founded in 1775 on a landscape marked by the eruptions of Timanfaya, El Grifo is one of the ten oldest wineries in Spain, run by three families and 20 generations of grape growers. 250 years later, its winemaker, Elisa Ludeña, presents eight wines from this historic Lanzarote winery, including its Malvasía Volcánica Lías 2018.

Jerez vs Jura

Jerez and Jura have in common that they produce wines with oxidative ageing under a veil of flor. In the case of Jura, this is mainly with Savagnin, while in Jerez, Palomino is the dominant variety. Underground Tastings: Bodegas Altanza

Catas Underground, organised by the newspaper NueveCuatroUno and Calado by Criteria, is held once a month and features Rioja producers. Charity Festival at Bodegas Bhilar

Melanie Hickman, co-owner of Bhilar and Etérea Kripan, opens her winery for a charity festival organised in support of the charity Amor Sin Barreras, which runs projects in Kenya. During the festival, visitors will be able to see the exhibition Turkana El Origen by Rober Astorgano and taste the wine El Grano de Turkana, produced by the Rioja Alavesa winery. There will also be food, drink, a charity fair and, weather permitting, an incredible sunset over Elvillar and the Sierra Cantabria mountains.

Gredos wines with Aitor Fernández

Producer Aitor Fernández will be at La Mercería wine bar today to talk about the landscapes, climates and soils of Gredos. He will be tasting the wines he makes in Cebreros and Cadalso as well as those of Barbara de Las Pedreras (Villanueva de Avila) and Curro de Vinicola Mentridana (Real de San Vicente).

Toro tasted blind

Following a recent vertical tasting of Pintia, this association has decided to organise a blind tasting of Toro wines. Several bottles of similar price range will be presented, all served in decanters. The aim is not to guess the brands but to explore aspects such as terroir, style, acidity, warmth and longevity, discuss them, draw conclusions and store them in your memory for the future.

Samaniego in Wine

Eight producers from this village in Rioja Alavesa — Alútiz, Amaren, Baigorri, Bello Berganzo, Heredad de Aduna, Ostatu, Pascual Larrieta and Remírez de Ganuza — present their wines with snacks prepared by Bruno Coelho, chef at Tierra y Vino restaurant, and live music. In addition, there will be a guided wine tasting led by Santi Rivas with a selection of eight wines from the Samaniego wineries.

Ollauri market

Valenciso, Conde de los Andes, Martínez Palacios, Marqués de Terán and Beronia wine estates host a day of crafts and wine in Ollauri, including a guided tour of the village, visits, tastings, show cooking and yoga at the wineries, a walk through the vineyards (4 km), a tasting of five wines and five tapas, as well as a children's workshop and a swing exhibition.
