Bodegas Eguia Rioja | Spanish wine Lover

Passion for Spanish wine

WINERIES

The Murúa family, owner of Bodegas Muriel in Elciego (Rioja Alavesa) purchased in 2010 some of the assets of Marqués de Arienzo in Rioja. The sale package included the winery, located at a stone's throw from Muriel's facilities, as well as all of its wine and the brand Viña Eguía, whose image and style have been completely revamped.

Based on the meaning of the Basque word egia, which means “truth”, the Murúas have created a new identity. The icon they have used is a hand taking an oath over a a label shaped as an open book.

The range of wines, aimed at the Spanish market and focused on offering value for money, includes a Crianza (around €4,5 in Spain) a Reserva (€6) and a Gran Reserva.

Bodegas Muriel, Bodegas Eguía, Marqués de Elciego and Conde de los Andes together have an annual turnover of approximately 12 million bottles. The group, which also owns a table wine division and a Vino de la Tierra company, has recently purchased from Paternina the old ollauri-based Conde de los Andes winery along with all of its wine stock.
